Football fans, get ready for the ultimate challenge! This season we are challenging you to compete in the Super Bowl Fitness Football Challenge to see if you have what it takes. This competition is sure to be an exciting and fun experience no matter what Super Bowl teams are in the game.
Super Bowl Sunday is one of those days where even the healthiest of individuals declare a “cheat day.” Most parties have chips, dips, and wings spread about for partygoers to spend hours of mindless snacking while watching the big game and waiting for the highly anticipated halftime show and commercial breaks.
Here’s a little expert advice. Don’t wake up this year with the Monday morning “I ate too many nachos during the halftime show” feeling.
We have two great ideas to help you keep your fitness goals while enjoying the big game. It’s okay to enjoy the game day food but start the day with a Super Bowl-inspired workout challenge or take on our game time Super Bowl Fitness Challenge. You and your friends won’t be able to resist getting in on the action.

Super Bowl Boot Camp Superset
This game-day workout is fun, it sets the tone for the day, and the best part is it brings out the inner athlete. It’s styled like a boot camp and can be performed in the gym or outdoors and with or without equipment depending on individual fitness levels. The Super Bowl-inspired workout is a superset consisting of cardio and strength training exercises that are repeated two to three times (depending on your fitness level). The superset exercises include:
- 3-point stance to Sprint
- Plank Jacks
- Smart Modular Agility Ladder Runs
- Single-legged Dead Lift with Dumbbells
- Stepping Lunges (front-to-back) with Dumbbells
- Bicep Curls
- Step-ups
- Triceps Press
- Plyo Squats
- Bicycle Crunches
Perform each exercise for 2 minutes and repeat the set two or three times. Rest and take a water break for 2-4 minutes between supersets. You can also do leg marches to keep your muscles warm before doing the second set. Begin the workout session with a light warm-up for 10 minutes and finish the session with a cool down (walking and stretching) for 10 minutes.

Super Bowl Fitness Challenge
The second round is this challenge that will get you and your friends into the football game. Whether your team is winning or losing, this Super Bowl workout game will keep you pumped up for the next play or big call. Don’t forget to download or screenshot the challenge card so you can keep up.
This game is an IF/THEN-style game. This year’s game night can be set up like the NFL draft with a first-round pick, second-round pick, etc., or you can simply play against your friends from the opposing team. Remember to give yourself plenty of time for choosing team names to take the challenge to the next level.
This game is an IF/THEN-style game. The rules are simple if this happens…then do the action that follows.
Below are the IF/THEN Challenges and don’t forget to check out the bottom of the post for a couple of ways to change up the challenge for your friends or family.
IF…
- First Down
- Penalty Flag is Thrown
- There is a 20+ Yard Play
- Someone Laughs at a Commercial
…Then Do Five Situps
IF…
- Touchdown is Scored
- Ref Makes a Bad Call
- A Quarterback Gets Sacked
- A Ball Gets Fumbled
…Then Do Ten Squats
IF…
- There is a Field Goal
- A Coach Yells at the Ref
- There is a Challenge on the Field
- A Penalty Flag Gets Thrown
…Then Do 5 Burpees
IF…
- A Commercial Makes You Cry
- A Flag is Thrown On Your Team
- An Interception is Made in the Last Quarter
- At the End of the Game
…Then Take A Break and Get Some Chicken Wings
You can change this game by challenging your friends from the opposing team to each action when your team does the IF this item from the list. For example, if your team scores a touchdown then they have to do the ten squats. You can add items to the challenge like a celebration touchdown dance, losing team dances, or second half you switch teams. You can also modify the challenges using a piece of equipment like a stability ball to do sit-ups or push-ups.
We know that every moment doesn’t have to be occupied by all things health, but sometimes health goals are hard work and the temptation to get off track is real. Don’t be afraid to offer healthy snacks like vegetable platters with hummus or fruit trays.
